GETTING READY FOR WORK AND LIFE

New Door Ventures offers numerous opportunities for youth to develop work and life skills:

  • Job-readiness classes and job search support for students at John O’Connell High School of Technology.
  • Monthly workshops on topics related to work- and life-readiness such as personal finance, nutrition, taxes, and legal issues for young people. Offered at New Door Youth Space in the Mission.
  • Nine-hour communication workshop offered three times per year at New Door Youth Space.
  • Spring Break Youth Leadership Program in which 10-15 students spend the five days of their Spring Break exploring leadership, education and careers and getting to know themselves and each other better.
  • Tutoring and academic support to students who are in need. In particular, to students who are not in school and are studying for their GED or high school equivalency exams.
